~Breaking The Rules

Sometimes being a designer you have to break a rules. In terms of design, we had to follow the basic fundamentals. What if we didnt? What if we change the whole perspective thinking of design and change it to something interesting?
Actually, nobody gonna say or judge that it is wrong. Having a good design comes from breaking the rule. By doing it, We can expand several ideas by design something different that is not suppose to be that way. Here's are 5 designers that inspires me :

Milton Glase

Poster for Bob Dylan's Greatest Hits, 1967

~ What inspires me about Milton Glaser is how art actually meant to him. On the second article he wrote with a title,"Art Is Whatever" it shows that art can be a formed of anything. From my point of view, he already break the rules. In other words, he stating that there is no such things as right or wrong in arts. By doings this, we can come out with various type of designs and ideas.

STEFAN SAGMEISTER

~ Stefan Sagmeister has different ideas and point of view on arts. His works mostly involve mixtures of sexuality with wit and a whiff of the sinister. He is more to D.I.Y type by putting text onto the skin be it the face or the body. To me, he express his thoughts and expressing his feelings by playing with fonts and text.

Chipp Kidd

("Bat-Manga! The Secret History of Batman in Japan)

~ Chipp Kidd is more to comics design. I like how he change batman into "Bat-Manga" in japans. He totally change the whole concept by breaking the rules. He also explain the terms used for Symmetry. How he actually plays with colors blended well.

Herb Lubalin

 (elegant hand-lettered script )
(announcement of an antiwar poster )
http://creativepro.com/herb-lubalin-and-expressive-typography/
Herb Lubalin is specialist in typography. As you can see her article above, each of them has meaning or symbolize something. The impact of of the message depends upon the beauty in the styling of the words. For the second poster, how she placed the color, tight type, and a very deliberate type alignment fits together like a jigsaw puzzle.

Paul Rand

"Everything Is Design. Everything! - Paul Rand

Paul Rand came up with different idea. Mostly his art , is design in a way with abstract art. Forming a human face by all types of logo he created into abstract design. He illustrate an alphabet into an object to as part of his idea. I find his design is really admiring and interesting in a way.
